I was looking through old cartoons to possibly post one of them in my blog, and I saw that particular cartoon. It immediately reminded me of a big news that happened recently. FBI’s biggest mafia bust ever! Here is the fictional cartoon about mafia and VRS. Enjoy this!

Mafia VRS

I am back!
I know it has been 1 year since the last time I posted anything on my blog. This time I decided to post a cartoon because I like the feeling of having a Halloween spirit! Here is another Halloween cartoon.

Mummy & a Pen Cartoon

Hey. Nothing much to say but wish you a Happy Valentine's Day. And have a good weekend. Here is an old cartoon.

While I embrace anyone of any race, gender, belief, class, or sexual preference daily—every February I celebrate Black History Month by proudly reading, learning, talking, and thinking about African Americans’ cultural backgrounds and respectable achievements. Today, I was thinking of a cartoon that I created related to deaf black people. Here is a humorous (probably a little funny) art that a friend of mine asked me to do for a publication of one of chapters under National Black Deaf Advocates.

Black History Month Cartoon

Hey. What's up? Sorry for the long silence. I know I have not posted anything for over 1 year. I had other things to focus on. Now I am back and really want to keep blogging about cartoons, illustrations, and pieces of artwork I or anyone else makes. Yes true biz - promise - I keep you posted. Enjoy your week.

Long Time, No Blog!

I don't think I ever posted a cartoon about Deaf-Blind characters. So I thought I should do this. To read about Deaf-Blindness, please check out this link from Wikipedia. Helen Keller is one of the most prominent Deaf-Blind people. Also check out another link about the Deaf-Blind community. Enjoy this blog.

Hey. I wish you a peaceful Happy Easter. Enjoy the cartoon.

I wanted to share the word of God with you. Easter is a special day because it is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He died for our sins on the cross on Good Friday. Jesus was buried on that day and rose from death on Sunday. Praise the Lord!

Happy Easter!

Hey, I created this cartoon 20 years ago when I was a student at National Technical Institute for the Deaf at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. I believe that it was published in a Deaf creative arts magazine. That cartoon sure brings me good memories of my college life at RIT. Let me share my story about my black-out drunkenness.... nah. I better keep that to myself. My bad. I was embarrassed. Lol. So enjoy this art.

Happy Memorial Day! Peace out.

Just wanna post this for your enjoyment.

Lost Interpreter?

Hey. I always enjoyed creating Halloween-themed cartoons for the SigNews newspaper (Sadly, that monthly signing community newspaper has been closed since last April.). Today, I wish you a Happy Halloween. Go get some good sweet candies and enjoy these cartoons below.

Happy Halloween. Peace out.

Happy Halloween!

Each February, millions of people & I honor and celebrate Black History Month. This MLK cartoon was published in Signews last year. Enjoy this.

Black History Month: MLK's Dream

Hey. What’s up?
I know I have not posted a cartoon for a while. But now here is one. You know, October is a spooky month. Some people like to hear or watch horror stories and see some creepy visual arts. Well, this cartoon probably does not scare you at all. But I hope it makes you smile, chuckle, or laugh. Let’s have a Halloween spirit! Booo!

Hey. What’s up? Welcome to my very first blog. I am new to writing blog posts but not to my reading on people’s blogs. I have been looking at many different vlogs and blogs mostly from d/Deaf and ASLian (a new informal word I just learned—meaning ASL user) peoples and I love & kiss-fist them. Deafread has inspired me so much that I created my own blog last month. I wanna try vlog. No promise but one day I would like to try a vlog from my Macbook with a built-in cam.

Let me tell you a little about myself. I am Shawn from Baltimore, MD. I have 2 cats. No human children. Not married. I work as a graphic artist for a magazine. I love arts and have been doing art pieces since I was a little boy. I currently draw cartoons for SIGNews—a monthly newspaper serving the signing community. I have enjoyed looking at deaf-related cartoon sites like Deaf Cartoon Blogs, moeart.com/blog, and www.mdaigletoons.com.

I thought you might like to see one cartoon below that I drew for a newsletter named The AAAD Bulletin – the publication of American Athletic Association of the Deaf (now USA Deaf Sports Federation). It was printed in 1994. It was one of my earliest paid published cartoons.

Many thanks for checking out my blog. Peace.

My First Blog

Hey. It is now 1:45 a.m. I wanted to add another cartoon in my blog. I quickly looked for an interesting one and found it. I immediately thought of editing the caption – something catchy.

This cartoon was first published in SIGNews a few years ago. The original caption stated, “Hey! I’m bored. Please show me more signs!” Now here is the new caption for this blog. Enjoy it.

Bored Fish Cartoon

Hey. I wanted to say Happy St. Patrick’s Day to people. I decided to create a greeting cartoon for my blog at the last minute—the night before St. Patrick’s Day. I started with rough sketches, drawing a picture of a bear holding a mug and signing “Beer”. But I wanted to add a character that said something related to St. Patrick’s Day. I sketched a female Leprechaun character signing “Kiss me, I’m Irish”. Nah, more work for a little time, so I dumped her. I looked back at the bear with the mug. The idea of the sign “beer” bothered me a little. Kind of not appropriate. That greeting is for anyone, including kids. That idea was thrown out. But after studying the sketches quickly, I made another draft of the same bear only with the same sign originally used for that (sexy) Leprechaun character. Not bad. I did the final cartoon above.

St. Patrick's Day Greetings

Hey. I hope you have a good Happy Easter. I have decided that I will go to church tomorrow morning. I believe that I will feel better afterwards with a good spirit from God. Recently I did a quick sketch of the sign for Jesus. I did it for about 15 minutes. Took a photo of my hands signing “Jesus”. Drew the picture while I was studying the photo print.

Happy Easter & Sign 4 Jesus

Hey. I know some people are tired of Cochlear Implant issues. But this is the only cochlear implant cartoon I have in many years. I kept seeing my original one in my flat file almost every time I looked for a collection of artwork. I couldn't help but find the picture of ants fascinating. I wanted to get it over with by posting that cartoon in my blog so I could move on with other cartoons regarding different deaf-related themes. Better now than later.

Cochear Implant Cartoon. Tired of that issue?
